PPL Electric Utilities

IT Architecture

During the summer of 2020, I interned at PPL Electric Utilities in the IT Architecture department, more specifically on the Cloud Architecture Team. Over the course of my internship, I leveraged Microsoft Tools such as SharePoint, Teams, Power Apps, and Power Automate to manage the organization’s content.  With the goal of reducing file redundancy, I created a workflow for content approval using Power Automate. Through the many tasks, events, and meetings I learned a great deal about the agile work and the scrum process. I gained valuable experience in meetings with the company leadership and vendors.

I am extremely thankful to have been able to intern at PPL EU during a time of innovation. While working remotely was initially a challenge, I quickly adapted by attending events that allowed me to experience the company’s culture. My coach and supervisor gave me valuable insight from the time I started up until the last days of my internship. I look forward to keeping in contact with them as well as the many people who I developed friendships with over the summer. Through conversations with leaders in UX and Design, I have realized my strong desire to pursue a career as an experience designer.

UX Design

At the close of my Summer internship at PPL EU, I was offered to continue my internship in the Fall as part of the User Experience Design Team as an Employee Experience Design Intern. In the past few weeks, I have been working on creating empathy and journey maps, note-taking on usability testing, and brainstorming on projects for company advancement.

Wegmans Food Market, Inc

I was hired as a cashier at Wegmans in October 2014. Throughout my time there I have worked on various teams allowing me to obtain skills useful in all parts of the store. I have worked as a Cashier, Selling Team Member, Cheese Shop Team Member, and Catering Team Member. While I learned a great deal in every place I worked, I believe I excelled most while working in the Catering Department.

Some of the skills I am able to use in the Catering Department are my attention to detail, good communication, and professionalism while working with the customers. I was challenged in this department to quickly correct mistakes when they happened to continue providing excellent customer service. Communication is key when working on a team, this is something I practiced daily while doing tasks both big and small. Whether I was communicating within the department or to other departments, it was important to do so effectively so that everyone who would be involved was informed.
