IBIT Small Business Consultant
This past summer, I worked as a digital consultant for the IBIT Small Business Project. I provided consultation to local small businesses impacted by COVID-19 by aiding in the digitalization of their business processes through creating digital solutions. I completed two projects, where I helped local businesses transition from physical to cyber. This was done by creating and updating websites to help these businesses improve market outreach and enable e-commerce.
My first project was with Big Day Film Collective, an art gallery whose grand opening was affected by COVID-19. Market research was conducted by my team mate Julia Petiteau to help the client reach her target audience. Then I helped transfer the client’s physical art pieces to virtual by implementing an e-commerce store. The second project was with Pathfinders Travel, a local travel magazine that caters to people of color. My role was to help transition and redesign a website that was both interactive and could draw more people to subscribe to the magazine. My team mate Carly Civello created a new logo, color scheme and provided marketing and social media strategies. The faculty advisor for both projects was Sheri Lambert. These projects allowed me to build upon the web design skills I learned in class and improved my WordPress knowledge. I learned the importance of communication and time management.
