Working as a server at First Watch Restaurants this past summer was a major turning point in my serving career. After three years in small mom-and-pop diners, stepping into a fast-paced corporate restaurant taught me discipline, precision, and teamwork on a new level. I earned certifications, passed a written exam, and learned the entire menu down to each ingredient to make sure guests with allergies were safe and satisfied. Every shift was a balance of speed and customer care by managing multiple tables, following a five-step service system, and coordinating with cooks, hosts, and bussers to keep everything running smoothly. Beyond serving, I learned what it takes to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience in a corporate setting and how strong communication and adaptability can make all the difference in a fast-moving environment.
