De Lage Landen Internship
This past summer I completed a 12-week internship with De Lage Landen, a financial services company that provides leasing and financing programs for various types of equipment. During my time at DLL, I worked full-time at the service desk in the Information Technology department. Some tasks I carried out in this role includes formal process documentation, database management, PC imaging, hardware troubleshooting, and miscellaneous project work. For the internships entirety, I worked in the office located in Wayne, Pennsylvania, which is the company’s American headquarters.
During my internship, I got to see how the IT infrastructure at a major company is laid out. The service desk is just one of the many teams in the IT department that keeps DLL running. With this being said, I got to interact and collaborate with all types of IT professionals who possess many skill-sets. One particular project that I worked on involved replacing all of the Windows XP machines with Windows 10 machines throughout the building. As the head of the project, I was able to meet with co-workers and discuss their needs for their new PCs so that I could build them custom PCs that met their exact specifications. Overall, I gained many technical and interpersonal skills throughout my internship with De Lage Landen.
