Location of Event: Penn Engineering and The Pennovation Center
This hackathon was hosted by the University of Pennsylvania\’s Women in Computer Science. FemmeHacks is a beginner friendly hackathon for women-identifying individuals in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York. Through the event, we listened to speakers on how important it is to be women in tech. Also, we were able to attend workshops where we learned different topics such as web development, computer hardware and web tools such as GitHub. Additionally, after attending those workshops, we were then able to put our coding skills to test on real-life projects while being mentored by engineers and computer science professionals. This event allowed me to network with other tech students in the city and showcase what I learned from my MIS courses on different projects we worked on during the event.
