At Temple University, I am extremely active in my sorority Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, Inc. which I joined in the fall of 2012.  I was previously Art Director and am currently a Director of Finance.  As Art Director, I created banners and decorations for philanthropy and recruitment events as well as painted our wooden letters that we carry to such events to ensure our chapter’s presence is seen.  As Director of Finance, I manage my chapter’s budget, member payments, and the cash inflow from fundraisers and donations from outside vendors.  This position is very involved and sometimes feels like a full-time job.  I track my chapter’s finances on a secure website called billhighway.com.  Being Director of Finance demands attention to detail, constant communication with my sisters and outside vendors, as well as solid organizational skills in order to make sure our chapter does not overspend its budget.  Outside of my position, I stay active by volunteering at our philanthropy events.  My favorite event we host is “Deepher Dude.”  Deepher Dude is a male beauty pageant that involves fraternity men and male athletes to compete for the title of Deepher Dude.  Each year hundreds of students attend this event to support our national philanthropy which is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  My sorority has raised about $10,000 each year at this event for the past two years showing that it is both a huge success and a fun time that encourages campus unity and support among various student organizations.

Over the past year, I have become a more active member of Gamma Iota Sigma, the fraternity for Risk Management and Actuarial students.  I am on the Math Competition committee which hosts an annual event for high school students interested in coming to Temple’s Fox School of Business.  For this committee, I have created a t-shirt design for the event in 2014.  I also attend meetings for our H. Wayne Snyder Distinguished Guest Lecturer Series where speakers visit Temple to educate Gamma Iota Sigma members about current events and trends within the insurance industry.  Gamma Iota Sigma provides many networking opportunities for its members and is one of the most rewarding organizations to be in within the Fox School.  To find out more, please visit our website.

Not only do I like to be involved on campus, but I like to travel and hope to travel much more in the future.  I have hiked in Alaska and seen pieces of glaciers break off at Glacier Bay, ridden a burro at the Grand Canyon, seen the lights of Las Vegas, and visited family in Memphis, just to name some interesting places I have visited in the States.  I also visit New York City at least once a year because it is my favorite place in the world.  However, I took advantage of an opportunity this past winter break to embark to Paris and Lyon through a program called Destination France with other Fox students.  Both cities were a sensory overload for the stomach and eyes.  I tasted delicacies like escargot and also reveled at the sights of the rustic countryside in Lyon and visited the Louvre and other iconic destinations in Paris.  The entire experience was absolutely amazing and unforgettable and made me want to visit again.  I updated my Destination France Blog throughout my ten day experience in France.  Although I loved France, my dream is to go to Barcelona and see La Sagrada Familia, an amazing architectural feat.  European architecture always captivated my attention which is one reason why I love exploring new cities.  One of personal goals is to learn at least two languages within the next five years so that I can travel with ease.

Previously being in the Tyler School of Art and also knowing how to play several instruments, I am interested in art and music.  One of my favorite places to visit in New York City is the Museum of Modern Art because of all the abstract and one of a kind work.  Exploring the city of Philadelphia and seeing classic works like those at the Barnes Foundation is also one of my favorite things to do whenever I have time.
