Interests and Hobbies
One of my favorite hobbies is playing rugby. I got involved in the sport my senior year of high school and ever since then, I have loved every second of playing. Just like any sport, rugby is challenging and engages you to perfom better and better each time and is also laid back in the sense that it is not too time consuming. The team, sport, and atmosphere are challenging and welcoming. I was lucky enough to experience going to Nationals for Temple’s women’s rugby team my freshman year. We got to travel to Alabama for Sweet 16’s to compete to go to California for the final four. Unfortunately, we did not make it to California, but the chance to go to Alabama was amazing. Even though we lost, we had a great time. This past season we were undefeated in the women’s collegiate Division II and were named MARC champions.
In my free time, which is very rare and valuable, I like to spend time with friends and family. I enjoy skiing in the winter and water skiing in the summer. Volunteering is one of my favorite hobbies. I love helping out where and when needed. Big events I volunteer at are Relay For Life, The Special Olympics, Buddy Walk, Crop Walk, March of Dimes, and Big Brother Big Sister.
My favorite event to volunteer at is Relay for Life. I have been active in the event since I was in grade school. Throughout the school year, I try my best to raise as much money as I can so that in the spring I can meet my goal for the walk. The last three years I have been the captain of my team. My highest fundraising has been up to $1,500 and every year I hope to make that higher. I have lost many family members and friends to cancer, which makes me very motivated to find a cure.
