Work Experience

Work Experience:

  • Student Worker for the Information Technology Service of Temple University   (September 2018 – Present)

Although I only recently started working for IT Services at Temple University, I have already learned so much about the IT structure of Temple University and the maintenance of servers. I have learned how to use different applications to monitor and update servers and virtual data stores. I monitor the memory and usage of servers across the university and help resolve issues when they occur. I also help with ongoing projects, one example being the upgrading of all Windows servers to be at least Windows 2012 R2 or Windows 2016.

  • SEI Technology Intern in the Investment Management Unit    (June 2018 – August 2018)

After my first internship experience at SEI (see below for details), I knew I wanted to focus my career more on technology. I switched to the Investment Management Unit Technology Team for my second internship at SEI. I worked alongside software developers, data managers, and business analysts.

My role on the team was to assist with the improvement of the Data Portal that the team was working on. I created analytics from user data and created user stories for different types of users. The analytics helped the team improve certain functionalities that the users wanted to see more of. I also performed user experience testing to identify areas that needed improving, trained a chatbot for the Data Portal, and helped redesign the home page and the entity landing page.

Also during this internship, I worked with a team of seven other interns on a summer-long case study. We were tasked with improving generational communication at SEI. While we struggled to find a cooperative balance at first, we were able to work through our struggles and present a well thought-out solution to the entire company at the end of the summer.

  • SEI Project Management Intern in Investment Manager Services    (Juse 2017 – January 2018)

I started my first internship at SEI in June of 2017 and worked there until January 2018. SEI is a Financial Services firm in Oaks, PA and I worked for the Private Equity division within the Investment Manager Services business unit. SEI is a large company with a campus-style headquarters and an amazing culture. It has an open-concept layout which encourages collaboration and community support. My favorite part about SEI is how well they treat their employees. There are constantly opportunities for further training, fun ways to take breaks from work, and employee team bonding.

I spent eight months working with the Project Management team for the Private Equity division. The biggest project that I worked on was a Robotics Process Automation implementation project. I spent hours conducting market research and finding potential use-cases within the business unit. I helped make plans for how the implementation would proceed and created a proof-of-concept that was approved by the C-suite and the vendor was chosen based on my recommendation and research.

I also worked on many projects such as new client on-boarding, technology development and implementation, and data analytics. Large client conversions  were very time consuming and it does not take much for them to get off track and behind schedule. Our PMO team worked with technologies such as JIRA and Qlikview to improve the efficiency and transparency of large, time consuming projects.

I was also involved with a project which utilized QlikView to organize HR data and find inefficiencies and trends. Working alongside a distinguished Data Scientist, I created a report that showed trends behind why employees had left the company. My director was able to use this information to even out the workload and give relief to some employees who were working long weeks.
