Music
Music has always been a significant part of my life. Ever since I picked up the violin at nine years old, I have been involved in my district’s orchestra and chamber ensemble every year until I graduated high school. Being involved in the chamber ensemble gave me opportunities to perform challenging classical works by Mozart, Bach, Mendelssohn in special performances around the Souderton Area School District. Some achievements of mine was being able to successfully play Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto I in my high school’s 2012 spring concert, and also sightread and perform a cover of Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinking About You’ as a contestant in the Miss Temple Asia 2012 Pageant at Temple University. I enjoy playing classical, folk (fiddling), and by ear (to modern day music).
For three years, a few of my close friends and I have formed a quintet to express our love for string instruments in our community. We were notorious for our Christmas and Thanksgiving shows at The Christ Lutheran Church in Harleysville, PA, where we would play classic holiday music for senior citizens. Even when we did not play shows, we would play together for our own enjoyment. My appreciation for classical music expanded my interest in other genres of music such as pop, electronic, indie, alternative, and house music. I appreciate music from all over the world. Music is truly my passion and inspiration.
