Wegmans Food Markets
Since I was 15 years old, I have worked at Wegmans Food Markets located in Collegeville, PA. I was hired as a cashier; however, I applied for their Store Operations Intern in August of 2015. I have spent the past two summers developing and training as a Department Manager. I have helped implement a new catering system to adjust for the high volume during the holiday season. In addition, I have become familiar with Computer Assisted Ordering to help keep the back of house minimize costs and to increase profits. This is a family owned, customer focused business that has instilled the importance of customer relationships in me. As a part of my internship, I am required to focus on a product in the store and increase sales through proper merchandising.

During my sophomore year, I decided to get a job in Philadelphia. I was hired as a barista. Within a month of my time there, I got promoted to a Team Leader. In this position, I monitor team members to ensure daily procedures are being done, practice food safety regulations, communication with upper management, and verify orders when they are received. The location I work at is 100% run by students. This has been a huge impact on my development as a leader. I have been taught new leadership and communications skills frommy fellow student Team Leaders and student C.E.O. Julia Maass.
