MIS Activities

COVID-19 Small Business Consultant

With the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic displacing many small businesses without a web presence, I worked with the Institute for Business and Information Technology at Temple University to assist in digitizing businesses in need. I worked with a business mentor to build a site for Anderson Monarchs youth sports organization to continue their training and communication without being able to meet in person.

JCP Software Developer

Client-side software developer for a site that allowed users to invest in properties around Philadelphia. My team and I utilized a private server hosted on AWS and third-party APIs to call relevant information to the web page such as crime rate, median income, and nearby schools. We also used jQuery techniques and single-page architecture to allow users to easily navigate around the site.

Alexion Analytics Challenge: Making Sense of Big Data

This challenge, which I participated in as part of a class project for MIS 2502, provided contestants with data on over 100,000 clinical trials and posed the question “What makes rare disease clinical trials successful?” This was an interesting task to tackle as an MIS major because it involved transforming data into uniform data sets before being able to observe trends and reach conclusions. Most of the methods that my group decided to use, such as using Tableau Prep to transform the data or Microsoft Excel to observe the finished data, we learned in our MIS classes.

Fox IT Awards, Spring 2019

At this award ceremony, I was honored to be awarded with the Yusuf G. Mandviwalla Endowed Scholarship. I am forever grateful to have been chosen for this award and to have been able to listen to industry executives and the advice they had for us. Himesh Bhise (CEO of Synacor), Angela Heise (President of the Civil Group at Leidos), and John Collier (VP, CIO of Wawa) were among my fellow award winners and they provided valuable knowledge from years of experience. I learned a great deal from these fantastic individuals which confirmed to me that Management Information Systems and Fox School of Business were the right choices for me.

Ascend Panel Discussion

Ascend, a diverse Student Professional Organization with over 40 student chapters across the country, hosted a panel discussion about Cyber Security and IT Auditing along with a networking reception with ISACA industry leaders & Temple ITACS faulty. I happily attended this discussion as it was very informative, especially on Temple’s graduate cyber security track, which is part of my goal to attend after finishing undergrad. I was also able to meet with Temple ITACS faculty, all of whom were very helpful in giving me advice and expectations for the path ahead of me.
