System Integration Prototype (LinkedIn)

Keep in mind that this is only one possible direction for the business; LinkedIn is used in this prototype simply to illustrate what the system would look like when integrated into the pre-existing infrastructure of a business-oriented network.

Addition of the ‘Recommendations’ Drop-Down Menu

Because this system would be a key new line of business for LinkedIn, we decided to make the system and its components accessibly directly from the main menu.

Recommendation Request Form (1 of 3)

Request being Made

This is the first of three short pages an applicant/recommendation requestor must populate before a request can be sent to the writer of the recommendation.  The first page asks for general information about the recommendation, the second page requests information about the applicant, and the third page calls for information about the company to which the recommendation will be sent.

Letters’ (Requested of/You’ve Requested) Management Tab

letters requested

Once the request has been submitted, the writer will be able to go under the ‘recommendations’ tab in the main menu and select ‘letters requested’.  This page outlines which letters have been requested of you and which you have requested of others.  The letters requested of you section allows the writer to start or reject a request for them to write a recommendation.  This page should not be confused with the letter archive; the letter archive contains letters that the writer has saved as well as ones which they have completed.

Tracking Manager Tab

Tracking

A key component to the system is tracking.  As soon as the requestor submits their request for a recommendation to the writer, they are able to access tracking capabilities for that letter.  The statuses of each letter that the applicant has requested will be shown next to the name of each writer they have requested a letter from.  A check at the end symbolizes a completed and sent letter of recommendation.  Up until that point, the applicant has the ability to send checkup/reminder emails to writers to ensure that they are completed in a timely manner.
