Protiviti Internship Experience
Internal Audit and Financial Advisory Technology Intern at Protiviti- Summer 2014
Protiviti, which is a global firm of about 3,000 professionals, focuses on internal auditing and risk and business compliance. I had the privilege of working in the firm’s Philadelphia office for the summer of 2014.
As an Internal Audit and Financial Advisory Technology Intern for Protiviti I worked with clients to focus on testing risk controls they face. Over the course of my internship I worked on several different projects including:
- “The Intern Challenge” Training in Orlando, Flordia and other general training in New York, NY
- IT SOX Audit for a global financial management firm in Oaks, PA
- IT SOX Audit for a regional bank in Stroudsburg, PA
- IT SOX Audit for a global healthcare firm in King of Prussia, PA
- Gap assessment for an IT Post Transition Review for a global bank and lending company in Newark, DE
- Gap assessment for an SDLC project for a national insurance company in Harrisburg, PA
- Shadowing Protiviti’s IT Security lab to observe penetration testing and social engineering projects in Philadelphia, PA
As an Internal Auditor I tested internal controls through:
- Ticking and tying documentation
- Observing client interviews to document current IT processes
- Writing process narratives to document current IT processes.
On these projects I worked on teams of 2-3 consultants, managers, and managing directors. I used Microsoft Excel, Sharepoint, and Adobe Acrobat regularly throughout my internship. I had a ton of experience interacting with clients and spent most of my time at client sites.
