Fall 2020 Courses

-Digital Systems (MIS 2101)

This course helped me to understand the role and importance of MIS in the business world. I learned how the business worked with technology to improve their performance. The course highlighted the role of digital platforms and information systems in business. I learned to work with swim lanes. They provide a visual aid to understand responsibility in a business and to spot redundancy and errors in the process of how the business runs. Lastly, I learned basic coding with Javascript.

Spring 2020 Courses

-Creativity and Innovation (SGM 0827)

In this course, I learned to harness my full creative potential. I developed important life skills while coming up with creative ways to deliver a working solution to a world problem. This project required team building, a skill I learned in HRM 1101 that benefited the group. The group consisted of High School juniors and seniors. My role was to be a cohort and mentor for the High School students. I enjoyed this class because I got to learn about Creativity and Innovation and enhance my leadership skills.

-Legal Environment of Business (LGLS 1101)

I learned the essential aspects of law with an emphasis on the legal environment of business. I got to learn the basics of contracts, tort, property, and administrative law, as well as international law. The professor used real-life court cases to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the case. This proved to be the most effective learning method as it provided insight into law from a business perspective.

Fall 2019 Courses

-Leadership & Organization Management (HRM 1101)

In this course, I learned to address the challenges of leading high performing organizations. The topics included in the course were forming high performing teams, leadership, decision-making, team building, culture, organizational structures, motivation, communication, social responsibility, and human resource management. This course allowed me to work with an amazing group of people. The goal of this project was to apply Tuckman’s model of group development. The idea was to work out the differences among team members before starting the project to achieve maximum productivity. Lastly, this would not have been possible without the upperclassmen mentor provided by. the professor. The mentor’s role was to lead the team and to guide us through conflict.
