Interesting Facts Page

My name is Rhenece Andrew, I am an international student. I am from the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago. This 2022 spring semester was my first semester at Temple University. I was admitted in September 2021. Thus far, the experience has been great, definitely a lot of work, but I know it is in the best interest of myself and my career.

So a little more about me:

One movie that I have watched over and over is Bruce Almighty. The two major stars in this show were Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman. It is about a man named Bruce Nolan who wanted a job position very badly and did not achieve it. Therefore, he took out all his anger on God asking him why things could never go in his favor. God responds to him, but it was done in a very comedic way. Though there is a lot of laughter, the movie still sends an important message which is an act of kindness can go a very long way. It honestly reminds me about life, not to take it too seriously, laugh a little but remember to be kind in everything that you do and God is always listening and has a plan for you.

I do not have a favourite sports team, as I do not follow team sports very often. However, I do love the sport of gymnastics. It is my favourite sport, I am a gymnast myself, I have been competing since the age of 6. To this day, I still practice it. If I had to choose my favourite individual that does the sport, it would be Simone Biles. She is very inspiring as she has literally done the impossible in the history of women’s gymnastics. This goes to show you can really accomplish anything you put your mind to.

Places that I have lived. I have only lived in Trinidad and Tobago all the years of my life. This is a twin-island. Trinidad is the bigger island. That is where I am from. I have moved to different parts of Trinidad. I was born in St. Augustine. I was raised in Diego Martin for most of my years. Then I moved to Barataria, then Cunupia and currently my family and I have settled in the city of Chaguanas.

In terms of my pet life. I have had fish and dogs, but currently, I have three dogs. The first one is Bellah, she is a pothound. She is seven years old. Her parents were mixed with Doberman and Rottweiler. The second is Kiayah, she is 4 years old and she is a purebred Pitbull and the third is Lyhann, she is 2 years old and her parents are mixed with Pitbull and Mastiff, she is the biggest and laziest out of all three. I love all of them equally! Hopefully, I can see them soon.

The apps that I visit daily are: Instagram and Snapchat which is mostly for entertainment purposes and speaking with my friends. I visit outlook because checking school emails are really important and I like to stay informed and updated. I also check WhatsApp as that’s how I keep in touch with my family members back at home. I also check Gmail, as I am on a scholarship and that is how my sponsors communicate with me.

My favourite thing to do outside of school is practicing the sport of gymnastics, I also love game nights and movie nights with my friends and family. I am also adventurous, so I love exploring doing activities such as hiking or even a good drive and finding new places on the island. I also occasionally enjoy a good party.

The coolest thing I have ever done. Hmm, let’s see…. this is a difficult one. I would have to say one of the coolest things for me is accomplishing this scholarship. I am the first in my family to have ever done it. I got this scholarship after attaining all A’s in an examination called CAPE. Which stands for Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination. Only 100 people are awarded this scholarship. It allows you to choose anywhere in the world you would like to study and the government sponsors your tuition. To me, that is one of the coolest things I could have ever done.

The experience above, I would also describe as my proudest atypical moment but another one that I am really proud of is being nominated and elected as Valedictorian. It was one of the best feelings that I have ever had as my teachers and fellow classmates chose me to represent them at our graduation ceremony. My high school years were really the best and I plan to make college just as good or even better!
