SAP: Demand Management Co-Op
SAP is a company synonymous with ERP systems. 76% of the world’s economy is touched by its software. To work here is a mere fantasy for many MIS students, but this past summer and fall, I had the amazing opportunity to work here as an intern in Demand Management for Financial Services.
Within SAP, I worked to enable the sales team and track pipeline. On a daily basis, I made resources available and distributed them, as well as collaborated in meetings to work on streamlining business processes. I took on a secondary role as a project manager for the COO of Financial Services, leading two Human Capital Management sales plays in order to grow pipe. I independently coordinated the campaigns, kept track of actions and held players responsible.
This position taught me how to interact in a real workplace. I daily went into work at SAP’s North American headquarters, and networked with colleagues. I was treated as an equal, rather than an intern. All of my projects had real impact on SAP’s business, and many times I was trusted to gather information and problem solve to get the job done. I learned persistence, grit and when as well as how to ask for help. This experience has greatly improved my professional development, and I am incredibly grateful for it.
