MIS Courses

Information Systems in Organizations:

This course is an introductory course which submerges students in a veriety of potential career paths within MIS. The main premiss of the course is to show students how MIS is used within organizations, and how they have evolved over the years. Students are taught how to analyze information using different tools like Google Analytics, SalesForce, and swimlane diagrams. With the new design of this course, programming was incorporated. This allowed students to get a hands on experience with MIS programming. This can be the majority of an MIS career, therefore it is important for students to experience it.

This course shapes MIS in a great way for undeclared temple students. This class allowed myself to find a major that I deeply enjoy and due to that I declared as an MIS major that following semester.

Data-Centric Application Development:

Data-Centric Application Development is the first major specific course within MIS. This course teaches students too deeply understand how webpages work with Javascript and Html. While understanding it students are also required to solve problems and create their own web pages for assignments. This is possible using a coding software called Visual Studio.

Data Analytics:

Data Analytics takes students through a journey of big data within companies. The course teaches students how to use different softwares to take data and turn it into information for companies. Within this class students use programs like MySQL, Tableau Prep, MongoDB, and R. It is important to understand these programs because so many companies use them for day to day tasks. Based off the information collected individuals are able to make better educated decisions within the company.
