I am currently working as a Financial Analyst for Temple Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The SBDC provides entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge needed to make smart decisions and prosper. It helps entrepreneurs realize the dream of business ownership and help existing businesses remain competitive in a complex, ever-changing global marketplace. I assist the center director with financial planning and analysis for internal budget purposes. In fact, I help monitor several grants accounts of more than $500,000 to ensure spending is aligned with the proposed budget. Also, I utilize IBM Cognos, Banner ERP and Excel to conduct accounting and related functions such month-end reconciliation, audit, and internal controls.
Past Work Experience
Total is the sixth largest oil and energy company in the world. I provided analytic support to the inventory management team during summer 2015 in Ouagadougou my hometown. My primary duty was to process invoices and enter them in SAP for payment. The invoices were from gas transportation suppliers. They transport gas from point A to point B and get paid depending on the quantity they transported and distance between both points.
“Skybound Solutions”
I worked several months for this IT start-up before they move to Las Vegas. I was recruited to help with financial management. One of my achievement there was the creation and establishment of financial models for the company financial statements. I also helped the COO to refine the business model of the company for a startup competition. The company developed an application for unsigned artists. The goal was to record and share on the platform in order to showcase the artist talents.
Bank of Africa is a multinational pan-African banking conglomerate, with banking operations in 18 African countries. It is actually the second largest bank in Burkina Faso. I work in the accounting department as an intern. My day-to-day task was to track daily Western Union transactions and enter them in Excel for audit purposes. I collaborated with three other interns to reconcile accounts.
