Defining and Achieving Professional Goals

I really enjoyed this LinkedIn learning activity. Prior to watching the videos, there was a downloadable goal sheet that I used to help me plan out what my goals are for one year, five years, and ten years. This helped get my thoughts and goals on paper. One of the steps in goal setting and achieving that I found most important was asking questions to yourself that will ultimately spark insights about what you want and how you can achieve it most successfully. These types of questions include, what is your average day like? What will you spend your time doing? What are you doing for fun? Asking myself these types of questions helped me to figure out how I need to lay out my goals. Another important note I learned is to get an accountability partner. An accountability partner is someone who can check in on you about your work so that they can either praise you for sticking to the goals/to-do list, or they can get encourage you to keep going and stick with the plan. This activity relates to my daily life and coursework because I feel as though I am always overwhelmed with managing school, sports, and free time. Being on a sports team at Temple takes up a lot of time, just like school does. Having specific goals set and organized tasks for me to achieve those goals are extremely helpful because now I can manage my coursework and I am going to get an accountability partner, such as one of my teammates or roommates so that they can check in with me to make sure I am staying on track with my goals, and I can also use them as a checkpoint to update them with what I am currently doing/working on. I also learned to form good habits that will help me be successful with my goals, and start practicing on losing the bad habits. The quality of this activity was very good because it was interactive and helped get me on track with what I want.
