Internship – GoSend
I had the opportunity to experience being a part of a smaller, efficiently run start-up GoSend Inc. that specializes in shipping U.S. merchandise (available only in the country) to its international customers. While working under GoSend’s lead web developer, I handled tasks such as:
- Expanding website features
- Usability testing and documentation for product use
- Creating and implementing technical products and systems
- Following standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data
- Writing and modifying programs, primarily using PHP, HTML and CSS, using Agile development methodology
- Performing software quality assurance testing and participating in code reviews
My main project while working for GoSend involved designing and creating a master UML for years of undocumented custom modules of PHP code, allowing the development team to better plan future features and updates. This included documenting GoSend’s entire commercial Drupal 7 site including entities, views, menu structure, and backend database structure.
It’s been a wonderful learning experience and I look forward to translating and applying these skills and values to more opportunities in the future!
