I believe that the world of Information Technology gives us the opportunity to solve diverse problems and connect with our community. One way I have been able to use my technical knowledge to solve unique problems is by working as the Data Analyst for the Office of Sustainability. I use Excel and Tableau to analyze and assign meaning to data from Temple’s sustainability operations such as food waste, energy usage, and infrastructure projects. In one case, I analyzed five years of data on Temple’s dining hall food waste. I created comprehensive Excel pivot tables, Tableau dashboards, and a presentation for Aramark. Additionally, Information Technology has allowed me to engage with my community at Temple, Philadelphia, and beyond. As the Director of Professional Development for the Association for Information Systems, I have had the pleasure of meeting and forming relationships with IT professionals from various backgrounds. By leading speaker events with them, I promoted learning within AIS members and learned from the speakers myself. In this role, I have formed impactful relationships with the speakers, alumni, professors, peers, and new MIS majors.
