Simplifying Web Development with Accessibility Best Practices

During Fall 2024, I completed the Linkedin Learning Course called Simplifying Web Development with Accessibility Best Practices. Through this course, I had the ability to learn about the importance of accessibility for web development in order to allow for an inclusive audience to easily access websites. Accessibility issues often occur due to accidental lack of awareness during the development process. Common issues that occur are color palettes that are used. For many people, especially men, they tend to have the red-green color blindness, also known as deuteranomaly. Therefore, when designing websites, it is best to avoid certain color palettes to convey information or certain color palettes as the main color theme of the website. Additionally, I was able to learn about other aspects of web design that I should be more mindful of, such as typography and signifiers for certain things, such as links and buttons. As a result, I was able to expand my knowledge on how certain web design issues can affect others, such as those who are visually impaired, as well as expand my knowledge on how to avoid these issues if I were to create my own website.
