Fox Fall 2025 Connection: Career Fair for Business Majors
On September 19, 2025, I attended the Fox Fall 2025 Connection: Career Fair for Business Majors, sponsored by the Fox Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD). As a Management Information Systems major seeking internship opportunities, I engaged with approximately twenty employers to explore how my technical skills and business knowledge could align with their needs. Notably, my conversation with a recruiter from Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) highlighted the importance of persistence and adaptability in IT and data roles within supply distribution and inventory management, both of which are areas that resonate with my prior experience working at an e-commerce distributor. At Reliance Matrix, I discussed how my progression from customer support to website and inventory management, and eventually to technical responsibilities all in the same workplace could translate effectively into the insurance industry’s growing need for data analytics and technology integration. In addition, from conversations with other employers such as tax and accounting firms, investment funds, logistics companies, etc., I learned how deeply business-focused technology expertise now drive even traditionally non-tech sectors. I also spoke with Compass Group USA, a foodservice company, where I learned about their expansion plans and potential future opportunities for technology-focused positions. Overall, the event broadened my understanding of how MIS skillsets apply across different industries and reinforced my commitment to leveraging technology to solve business challenges.
