Intern
- Job function: Tested functionality of webpages (designed to take data input from excel sheets to display on page with analysis of said data) and organized notes of each test in excel spreadsheet, worked in SQL database to run through data collected on webpage and test if data was being processed correctly, made adjustments to webpage to modernize and better reflect company needs.
- One smaller project I worked on involved creating a new page with JavaScript for the website that WareSoft was developing for which pulled information from a table in the SQL database and organized it into a chart for simple viewing by the user. The main project I took part in involved creating over a hundred spreadsheets of data designed for testing in a manner intended to break the webpage if the logic was not properly in place and document when these spreadsheets resulted in a failure and suggestions to improve the website design.
- During this internship, I gained more experience working with SQL and JavaScript, particularly through sifting through, testing, and adjusting code already developed by the company, which is relevant to MIS 3502, Application Integration and Evaluation, the class I took the semester prior to the internship. I was able to apply the knowledge I gained in this course to a more practical business setting, testing and reviewing code, which increased my understanding of how to develop software and work with databases in the future.
