IT Intern at Tech Freire Charter High School
TECH Freire Charter School is a newly opened school (opened in fall of 2016) Tech Freire provide students a college-preparatory learning experience specializing in computer science and entrepreneurship with a focus on real-world learning, critical thinking, and problem solving in an environment that emphasizes the values of community, teamwork, and nonviolence.
I worked at Tech Freire from May 22, 2017 to August 18, 2017. During my time working as an intern during the summer before the school officially opened for the fall, working along side Erin, my IT Supervisor, I learned a lot about enterprise Computing and how it works, Erin also informed me about DNS servers and what policy the domains have and how policy effects computers on their network. I had the opportunity to set up, configure, and deploy over 200 OS using Acronis snap deploy. While working with so many computers i learn more about bios configurations and encounter problems I never seen before. Besides from IT related skills I also gain some insight on business skills especially communication. I was sometimes assign to helpdesk to trouble shoot computer or answer phone calls. While trouble shooting the staff computers, I attempt to be more open and just start making small talks. Since I am somewhat of an introvert, talking to staffs asking questions and/or even just making small talks allow me to practice public speaking myself. Making small talks will help me a lot when I start interviewing for jobs or just get that elevator pitch in.
