Projects
The three projects I’ve done so far are the Temple Analytics challenge, Capsim, and NewShoes. The Temple Analytics challenge required us to research a specific topic, then make a presentation based on our research. For our project, we chose the Merck diabetes topic. I worked in a group with 2 friends and split our research amongst us. We used Pictochart to create our graphs and presentation. Capsim is another project I did. Capsim is a business simulation aimed to teach you how to run a company against competitors. It also combines aspects of accounting, marketing, finance, and HR to give us a full feel of running our own business. Capsim requires an extensive amount of research and learning in order to do well. I learned the importance of automation, how to price items, how much to invest in order to retain customer awareness, and much more. Overall, Capsim requires a wide range of business knowledge in order to be successful. NewShoes is another project I did. It is basically a baby version of Capsim, where we only market one product. However, it was still difficult to do in the beginning because it was the first project I did. NewShoes requires us to truly understand the market and our competitors in order to win. It was interesting to see each group’s strategy and how one tiny difference can change the outcome of the simulation.
