Data Analytics Challenge 2016: AmerisourceBergen

In 2016, I worked as part of a four person group with Amruth, Sean Dougherty and Marlea Tremper on the Temple Data Analytics Challenge, analyzing the AmerisourceBergen prompt. The idea of the prompt was to identify areas in which small pharmacies, which need to prioritize what they sold, could compete with larger chain stores. To do this, we identified a few key areas of product. The first was the products that generate the most revenue across the entire region that our data covered. By identifying these products, we were able to show pharmacy owners the key items that were their biggest moneymakers and help them to know what they should prioritize when ordering and stocking products. We then tried to identify regional differences in what products that pharmacies should carry by identifying the most popular subcategories in each state. If a subcategory was in this list for a state then we reasoned that pharmacy owners should make sure that they have items within that subcategory in stock.

Here is the infographic that we developed as part of the challenge and here is our full write up of our findings.
