Acquisition Specialist
This summer I interned for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) which is a program under the Department of Defense for the United States. The DLA is responsible for supplying the Army, Navy, Military, Air Force, and other agencies with the critical resources they need to accomplish their worldwide missions. I was responsible for sorting through pricing data that we received from our vendors included in the current contracts. This included reviewing all of their data to make sure nothing would cause an error in our database. After I determined which price was fair and reasonable, the next step was to make sure everything was compliant with the laws the DLA follows. After this was verified, I had to enter every item into our database, and make sure there were no errors. My role was very important because I am the first person who reviewed orders to make sure they were acceptable to purchase. Many orders I handled were worth millions of dollars.
