This passed spring into summer, I interned at Deloitte, from April through June. Deloitte, a global consulting firm renowned for its expertise, provided an ideal setting for this experience while I worked hybrid out of their Harrisburg office.
I participated in Sustainability and ESG research. This research delved me into Deloitte’s pivotal role in supporting clients’ sustainability goals and navigating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. Throughout the internship, I contributed to several projects, including developing comprehensive ESG reporting frameworks for a multinational conglomerate and conducting industry-specific benchmarking assessments for a major financial institution. These projects demanded meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of each client’s operations and sustainability objectives.
Sponsored by Deloitte’s Sustainability and ESG team, the research provided an in-depth understanding of how the firm empowers organizations to balance profit with social and environmental impact. As an intern, my role involved actively engaging with experts who outlined Deloitte’s approach to assessing, strategizing, and reporting on ESG matters for clients across diverse industries.
Through this, I gained valuable insights into the intricate world of sustainability consulting and the critical role it plays in shaping responsible corporate practices. The research emphasized the profound influence businesses have on global sustainability efforts and reaffirmed my commitment to contributing meaningfully in this sphere.
This internship also greatly complemented my studies in Management Information Systems, as it provided a practical application of concepts learned in courses related to sustainability, data analysis, and strategic planning.
