Risk Advisory Internship – Ernst & Young LLP, Summer 2018
Ernst & Young (EY) is a professional services firm specializing in assurance, advisory, tax, and transaction services. EY is a global firm, with over 200,000 employees working from over 700 offices in more than 150 countries.
During the Summer of 2018, I completed an 8-week internship program under EY’s Risk Advisory Practice in the Philadelphia office. I worked on two engagement teams, getting to see two different sides of the consulting business in two different sectors. For my first engagement, I worked on Business Process side of a new retail client. I attended walkthrough meetings, consolidated documentation, and performed SOX control testing for the Internal Audit team, including application based controls. On my second engagement, I assisted with a SOC Report for an IT Services firm. For this client, I had the opportunity to tour 2 data centers in Philadelphia to test the physical and environmental controls. I prepared testing spreadsheets for SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports, both management criteria controls and AICPA controls. In addition, I reviewed testing completed by the global delivery services team.
I also had the opportunity to attend the International Intern Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. This event was attended by 3,200 interns from around the world, and featured speeches from top executives, including CEO Mark Weinberger and Americas Managing Partner Kelly Grier.
