Experience
Volunteering
My brother has a bleeding disorder called hemophilia which lead to me getting involved with the Deleware Valley Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation. The chapter works with the local families who have a child with hemophilia to provide educational events as well as other more fun centered events such as hosting a family weekend at a summer camp facility or a bowling benefit. I have volunteered at countless chapter events including the family camp weekends , charity runs such as 5k races, or helping fill and send out envelopes containing information on chapter events to the families of the chapter.
My love of sports also lead to me volunteering for a basketball league hosted by my church the Calvary Chapter of Philadelphia . I volunteered as a referee for their younger age brackets while also volunteering as an assistant coach for one of their older age brackets.
Food Service Industry
I have held two jobs in food the food service industry. The first was as a dishwasher at a local deli/restaurant called Schmooze ,which was actually my first job. It was a good first job as it was a demanding one where I was forced to work with others on the staff to do my job quickly and correctly. My second food service job was at Panera Bread where I worked on the food preparation line. Like my first job , I learned a great deal from this job about the importance of being able to work as a team as well as the importance of communication in the workplace.
Physical Therapy
One of the jobs I currently hold is as a physical therapy aide at Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehab Associates. As an aide I am responsible for a variety of tasks including assisting patients with exercises, providing patients with the necessary equipment to to their exercises, applying hot/ice packs, disconnecting them from TENS units, scheduling patient appointments , handling patient co-pays, general office cleaning and management duties and more. A big part of the job is contributing to a healthy and positive environment for patients which includes getting to know them and engaging them in conversation .
Temple University
Another job I currently hold is as a student worker for the Temple University Computer Services department. I work as a part of the Imaging Workflow team which manages imaging software responsible for scanning and indexing documents from Temple offices across Temple’s Main,Center City and Ambler campuses as well exporting them to a database which is accessible from our university wide document management system . My job includes testing the software to ensure documents are being correctly scanned , indexed and exported. This includes writing short scripts, managing database connections between the server hosting the software and server hosting the database management system, providing technical assistance, visiting different offices at Temple to gain information on how they use the software, as well as various degrees of problem solving.
