Temple University Data Analytics Challenge
I took the responsibility of leading a team of three people participating in the 6th annual Comcast NBC Universal Data Analytic Challenge. During the challenge my team and I analyzed a series of complex data sets about the eSports industry to find correlations with other common sports such as football, soccer, and baseball. At the end of competitions we submitted the summary of our findings including multiple data visualizations that accurately displayed the correlations we found. This was the first competition I competed in during my MIS college experience and learned so much useful knowledge that I can use during my career.
CSPD 2019 Spring Career Fair
During my spring semester junior year I had the privilege of attending the CSPD spring career fair. I was able to meet with many company recruiters from companies like IBM, Lincoln Financial Group, and Creative Financial Group to talk about what they look for in a student coming out of college. This was a great event to build my network and connections but also to practice what it is like to talk to industry professionals.
Lunch with Josh Barbieri of the Philadelphia Phillies
Josh Barbieri is the Director of Business Analytics for the Philadelphia Phillies. I had the pleasure of hearing him give a talk about his daily work and how the Phillies are using analytics in their day to day business. After his talk, I was able to attend a sit-down lunch with Josh to really get a better understanding of his job and the views he has on analytics. Josh talked about all the different data points him and his team are able to extract from different technologies they have created and bought throughout the years. It was extremely interesting to get such a close look on how a sports franchise are using business analytics to better not only their business but the team as well.
