My Co-Op Experience

AmerisourceBergen Corporation | XtraGlobex, Inc.

During the Spring of 2020, I worked with the Digital Innovation Foundry (DIF) through the Institute of Business and Information Technology (IBIT) at Temple University and the Fox School of Business. My project team was comprised of fellow student Thomas Norris and faculty members Jeremy Shafer and Dr. Subodah Kumar.

The Client:

My client for the Co-Op was AmerisourceBergen (NYSE: ABC). ABC is a global leader in pharmaceutical distribution with hundreds of offices located in 52 different countries. ABC is headquartered in Chesterbrook, PA and partnered with Temple University to build a model, prototype, and functional Risk Analysis tool.

The Project:

The main goal of the project was to develop a functional web application that would asses and analyze the financial risk of potential technology projects at AmerisourceBergen (NYSE: ABC). The FAIR methodology (Factor Analysis of Information Risk) was chosen as the guiding framework of the project. This methodology was new to Tom, Jeremy, and I; thus, learning all that we could about the FAIR “statistical engine” would be crucial for the success of our project.

Current Status:

At the end of the semester we are currently still iterating through prototypes. We completed the Excel Model/Prototypes, a user Friendly UI, and an API connection with an AWS server. Our main roadblock to date was creating the functional backend algorithm that will drive the analysis of the machine. In the next month, we plan to deliver the functional web application to ABC to help guide their IT investment decisions.
