Afrotech is an annual tech conference in Silicon Valley for people of color. With 2 venues this year, the conference had 3,000+ attendees and had several speakers, workshops, and companies for people to get information from. I went to San Fran for 2 days to experience the conference and I was able to get a little more insight on how the tech industry runs in San Francisco. The conference has several tracks to follow but I followed both the design/engineering track and the entrepreneurship track. I learned how to navigate my early career through networking and a lot a tips on how I should persevere in an industry that isn\’t as diverse as it should be. Going to this conference aligns with my goal of networking and talking to recruiters at companies I\’m interested in working at. I was able to get in contact with recruiters from Amazon, Accenture, Microsoft and many other companies I hope to work for one day. I also got to view the city of San Francisco to see if it\’s a city I want to work in after graduating.
