Preparing for Successful Communication
I completed the LinkedIn Learning course Preparing for Successful Communication by Sam Horn. This course helped me understand how to communicate more clearly, confidently, and effectively in professional settings. One of the main concepts I learned was the W5 framework, which emphasizes understanding your audience, purpose, and desired outcomes before speaking. I also learned the importance of creating a strong opening, organizing ideas using numbered points, and ending with a specific action-oriented close. The strategies on handling tough questions and maintaining executive presence were especially useful, as they apply directly to presentations, meetings, and interviews. As an MIS student, strong communication skills are essential when presenting technical ideas to non-technical audiences, and this course strengthened my ability to do that with clarity and confidence.
