AmerisourceBergen

Recently, I had the opportunity to intern at a pharmaceutical distribution company called AmerisourceBergen. I worked in their Information Technology Department as a Business Intelligence Intern. I was responsible for documenting and maintaining a data dictionary of the company’s 3.1 and 4.0 SAP Business Object Reports. This document helped the company further their best practice strategies and provide meaningful information to their business end-users. Also, this document was used throughout the IT department to assist in retiring the legacy ERP system. Additionally, I had the opportunity to learn how to create SAP Business Objects Explorer and Web Intelligence reports. These types of reports are used throughout all areas of the business and developed within the IT department. Throughout my internship, I was involved in weekly status report meetings with the departments project managers, project sponsors, business analysts, subjects matter experts, and stakeholders from the business. As an intern, I had a complete understanding of all the projects that were taking place and the progress the team has made on each of these projects. I was able to see report and upgrade projects be completed from start to finish. Lastly, I was responsible for creating audit reports, which tracked the usage of all the reports within the company’s SAP Business Objects reporting tool. This report tracked who used the report, the time the report was last run, the time it took the report to open, the time it took the report to refresh, and the amount of times the report was used. This allowed the Business Intelligence Reporting team to maintain all of the reports and make sure they were functioning properly for individuals in other areas of the business. Throughout the duration of my internship, I learned a lot about the reporting aspects of an IT department and became familiar with IT project management. After the successful completion of my internship, I have an understanding of how today’s IT departments operate within large organizations.
