Professional Development Activities
Some examples of professional development experience:
MIS 3502 Class Project- This project was one of the most challenging projects I participated in during my time at Temple. We were working with a client for an entire semester on making a prototype for a tenant/landlord portal they wanted to implement. We had to start from scratch and hard code the entire solution. As a team, we faced many different problems that we had to overcome and it was very challenging at times. None of us had much experience with coding so we had to teach ourselves everything and this proved difficult and time consuming, limiting the possibilities of our outcome. Overall, it was a great learning experience and it helped me become a better student and professional.
University Career Fairs- I have attended several career fairs during my time at Temple. These were both for the Fox School of Business and for the MIS department itself. Attending these events was a great networking experience, giving me the chance to research companies then actually meet face-to-face with representatives from those companies and learn more about the opportunities they have to offer. I was given the chance to develop my interviewing skills as well as a result from these Fox career fairs and I plan on continuing to do so in the future.
Active AIS member- I have been actively involved Temple’s Association for Information Systems since I decided to major in MIS. Being involved in this organization was a great experience. They provide many great opportunities for students to learn more about the field of technology. Member get hands-on experience during the technical development meetings throughout the semester. There are also many guest speakers from reputable companies. This was very insightful and interesting as they would provide a background of what they do and tell many different interesting stories about who they are and how they became what they are today.
