Swipe’d

Swipe’d is an application prototype designed by Emily Wylde, Stephen Lauver, and myself for our MIS: Information Systems Integration class. For this project we were tasked with creating an idea that either improved on a current system or created a solution for a demand in a market. For this project we developed an application called, “Swipe’d” which would allow students to buy and sell meal credits from other students. Along with creating the idea, we had the opportunity to design a prototype, predict costs and other financial information, identify the market, and calculate risks. Needless to say this project has taught us quite a great deal about project management, application design, and time management. Throughout the project we learned how important time management is and how to realistically map out the stages of a project. Next, we learned a great deal about the importance of designing an application that makes things easy and simple for the users. Lastly, we learned a great deal about the importance of creating a market to make something more valuable and perhaps not expecting to make a great deal of income in the early years of an application being released.
