MIS 0855 – Data Science

Data Science focuses on visualization by organizing and converting raw data through Tableau. The course teaches us key principles to present data visually. We learned how to store, organize, and analyze data to make better decisions for all types of organizations. I can use my experience in Tableau to visualize data so that all users can quickly understand what the data suggests and how to make decisions based on that data.

Below is my presentation from the course:

MIS 2101 – Information Systems in Organizations

In this introductory MIS course, we learned about how organizations utilize information systems applications to interpret the interactions between information technology, customers, processes, and data. The applications include customer relationship management systems (CRM), enterprise systems, transaction processing systems, business analytics, and emerging technologies. I can use my experience in CRM by using analytical skills to understand and optimize the customer’s experience.

MIS 2502 – Data Analytics

This course teaches you how to enhance a firm’s competitiveness by designing database systems and analyzing business data. We are introduced to software such as MySQL, MongoDB, Tableau Prep, and RStudio. My experience in writing MySQL queries to retrieve data from a database inspired me to pursue a career in database management. I can use my experience in MySQL to clean data and improve the efficiency of systems.

MIS 2402 – Data-Centric Application Development

In this course, we used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery to develop and have a better understanding of programming fundamentals. This course teaches us how to combine these languages to create solutions that interact with APIs. We used debugging tools to identify problems with our code.

MIS 3506 – Digital Solutions Studio

Digital Solutions Studio focuses on Norman’s concepts of design and user experience. This course covers the importance of Norman’s principles to build a complete user experience. By learning about Norman’s principles such as human-centered design, I was able to redesign a website’s interface that meets human, social, and business model goals.
