Interests/Hobbies

I believe very strongly in a Bob Marley quote, “Music is the medicine of the mind”. I listen to a wide variety, but some of my favorite bands/ artists include Paramore, Lana del Rey, Eminem, Lorde, Monsters of Men, The Lumineers and Imagine Dragons, among many others.

Reading is another escape although it is sometimes hard to find that extra time to read.

Besides my travels in Europe, North Wildwood Beach is my closest thing to paradise. Some complain about the long beaches and the crowded boardwalk, but I love it. I grew up visiting N. Wildwood every year due to my grand-pop owning a small house. Not to mention around the corner sits one of the best breakfast places on Earth, Samuels, in my opinion. Can not beat a Belgian waffle covered in real, fresh strawberries, chocolate chips and whipped cream, which brings me to another one of my hobbies, eating. I love to cook, eat and try new foods.

I love playing sports and used to be very competitive. When I was in high school as well as grade school, I was on different basketball and volleyball teams, my two favorite sports. Now that I am no longer a member of a team I enjoy playing basketball in a game of rough, just shooting around, or bumping around a volleyball. Sometimes beach volleyball in Wildwood gets intense.

I adore my family and friends and would be nowhere without them. It’s always nice being able to spend time.

Current School Involvement

I am a proud member of Gamma Iota Sigma, which is a student professional organization for Risk Management and Insurance as well as Actuarial Science students. I am also a member of the Community Affairs committee. Gamma runs an extremely prestigious program that assists you in developing yourself as a young professional.

As a member of the community affairs committee I help with activities such as bake sales, creating cards for cancer patients, reading to children at a local day cares, cleaning up around Philadelphia, and many other things.

Studying Abroad Fall 2013

Studying Abroad last semester was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I spent approximately four months living in Rome, Italy and traveling a bit throughout different countries in Europe. Besides Italy, I made it to Norway, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, England and Ireland. Other than learning about various cultures first hand, I was able to learn so much about myself as well. I love to travel, plan my own trips and love to meet new people. Every day I woke up there was something new to see or do. No matter if it was just rolling out of bed and getting lost in Rome, heading to a different city in Italy or another country, or just going to my classes Monday – Thursday, I found every day to be just as or even more exciting than the last.

While I was in Rome, the courses I took were: Italian Design, History of Art in Rome, Film in European History, and Italian I. To be honest, I enjoyed them all. We had a field trip in both my Art History and Italian Design class to some amazing site twice a week.

I was so lucky to have been able to experience studying abroad and I look back, missing it every day.

Ciao & Welcome!

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to view my E-portfolio! My name is Dominique Scaltrito and I am presently a junior at Temple University. I am majoring in Risk Management and Insurance and have chosen to focus on studying Property and Liability as well as pursue my CPCU designation.  Currently, my goal is to obtain an internship in insurance so that I can gain hands on experience and develop a clearer career path I would like to embark on in the future.
