Diversity & Inclusion Virtual Career Fair

  1. Sponsoring organization
    1. CareerEco
  2. Details of the activity (e.g., where, when)
    1. Virtual, December 8th
  3. What you learned
    1. Different from the last career fair I went to, this fair didn’t have any speakers so I really only spoke with the companies that I was interested in or curious about. I spoke with representatives from three different companies; Enterprise Holdings, Lumen Technologies, and Total Quality Logistics. I asked questions about their company values and culture to see how I would fit into their mission. I also learned about the skills and qualifications needed to attain the positions being offered. Overall, this career was a good way to make new connections and gain insight from different industries.
  4. How the activity relates to coursework or your career goals
    1. I think that attending a virtual career fair can be a great way to explore job opportunities and internships in my field. Many companies are seeking entry-level candidates with expertise in the fields that I’ve been studying so this is a great way to get my foot in the door and learn about these job openings. Furthermore, speaking with recruiters helps me gain a better understanding of the types of roles and responsibilities that are available to me and how my skills can be applied in the workforce. Having the opportunity to network with professionals in their respective fields is also very helpful in my job search.
