Web Design Internship at Total Web Company
My time at Total Web Company has been a great experience for me so far. I was offered the internship in September of 2015 on a part-time basis and accepted instantly. It has been a goal of mine to further my web design expertise and I firmly believe that I have accomplished this goal. I am largely responsible for the SEO functions of the company, but have also designed websites from scratch and/or assisted others with more complex websites (i.e. WordPress, Magento, and other CMS). My colleagues made me feel welcome and provided and environment in which I felt free, if not encouraged, to ask questions.
In addition to SEO, I learned the foundations of HTML5 & CSS3, Adobe Creative Cloud, WordPress, PHP, MySQL, and more. But the things I’ve learned are more than just computer-based. Speaking with customers, primarily over the phone, has been a great experience. And since the company is a start-up, the ability to be in constant contact with management and ownership, learning the ins-and-outs of small business practices, has been an experience like no other.
I hope to move to a paid position by the Summer of 2016, but either way I will continue to grow my knowledge of the world of Web Design.
