Introduction to Web Design and Development
Introduction to Web Design and Development from Jen Kramer sponsored by LinkedIn Learning was an intuitive two-hour course for beginners. It reinforced my understanding and knowledge of many important web development terms, concepts, definitions, and coding and no-coding tools used in the industry. This course defined the differences between using different frameworks like getbootstrap.com, react, open source vue, and angular, or using a content management systems CMS like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla, along with their plugins to add functionality like shopping carts, manage events and reservations, or inventory management. The course also elaborated on the roles client and server, server software and hardware play in web hosting, as well as building web apps and native apps, and site prototyping using Figma or Adobe XD. It discussed the role of various open source server software such as Apache and NGINX and introduced some of the best no-coding site building and web-app building environments like webflow and editor X for more complex no coding graphic design builders who want the best graphics. It recommended bubble.io and appgyver.com for building web-apps and I learned about Adalo.com and glideapps.com to build Android and iOS apps exclusively. Furthermore, the course described how you could interface google sheets and airtables.com with glideapps.com and adalo.com for a no coding solution to database management.
This course offers good training and a solid foundation to begin the journey into, digital project management, website design and development and web-app building. It highlighted that there are many roles IT professionals can fulfill such as social media manager, content strategy specialist, user experience, and user interface design, search engine optimization, and e-mail marketing just to name a few. Whether it’s in a coding or no coding space there are many roles to play in creating a safe, efficient, professional, website or application.
