Microsoft Power Apps Essential Training
Going forward with my technical education I completed the Microsoft Power Apps essential training course from LinkedIn learning by Gini von Courter. This course introduced me to the Microsoft Power platform and its related tools such as Power BI for creating business analytics and visualizations, Power Apps for building applications, Power Automate which is used to create work flows for process automation and Power Virtual Agents which is used to build chat bots.
Power apps along with the other related tools in the Power Platform are a cloud based no code low code solution for building apps, tracking data and publishing applications for use in the field. This course went through building the three types of apps that you can build with Power Apps; one are canvas apps which focus on user interface, two are model apps which focus on your organizational data/tables which are stored in the cloud, and three Power Apps Portals which allows you to create an external facing web site for clients and partners to browse and access data.
Through this course I learned a lot about building cloud-based business applications. I learned how to build an app using a template as well as building an app from scratch. I learned how to connect to a data source like an Excell worksheet and use a data connector like one drive or Drop Box to link my data to the mobile app for viewing and updating. Additionally, I learned about setting user role security permissions when sharing the app and building a secure sign in web portal using Power Apps Portals.
This course was a very concise and informational first look into the Microsoft Power Platform and Power Apps and It showed me the structure and tech stack needed to build and launch a useful business application and share it securely.
