Student earns first-ever CISA Certification

Nelson OcampoHere’s one for the history books: ITACS student Nelson Ocampo has just earned his Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification, the first-ever Temple student to become certified while attending the ITACS program. “My work experience at Temple helped me tremendously in achieving my CISA certification,” Nelson explained. “I may by the first, but certainly not the last!”

In an email interview, Nelson described the rigorous preparation process. “Not studying was not an option,” he wrote, “and the ISACA framework was drilled into our heads throughout the ITACS program.” After passing the exam, each candidate must also accrue experience in the field—a requirement toward which Nelson applied his current work at Temple. “Juggling school, schoolwork, [a] full-time job and family was no easy task.”

Now that he’s certified, Nelson plans to apply his noteworthy skills to his current work. “The CISA has given me deeper understanding of the business processes and their interaction with information technology.”
