Description: Temple University Blockchain Club (TUBC) is hosting a workshop on blockchain applications within business. Specifically, they will explore how custom-built blockchain networks can cater to a business’s unique requirements. The guest speaker for this event is Bob Hartley, the Head of Solution Architecture at Kaleido. Kaleido is a prominent blockchain solutions company that assists businesses in developing and expanding blockchain applications for various purposes, including banking, supply chain, insurance, media, and ESG initiatives. Description: Organizations are constantly under attack. Attack Frameworks are used by cybersecurity professionals to identify and describe intrusions so that they can be more easily identified and/or prevented. They also provide a common language that makes it possible to better understand the nature of today’s attacks. In this presentation, Prof. David Vargas will discuss the two most common attack frameworks used by industry today — the Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK.

Faculty Fellowship Opportunity for those interested in Teaching Cybersecurity
2023 Cybersecurity Faculty Fellowship Program
NCyTE is hosting a Faculty Fellowship Program open to college/university students in their final year or recently graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in cybersecurity, who are interested in teaching in a community college setting. The Faculty Fellowship Program will introduce and prepare participants for a career path of teaching cybersecurity in a community college setting. Gain experience in creating lesson plans, syllabi, leading a classroom, and more. We encourage students from underrepresented groups in cybersecurity to apply. Stipend opportunity is available.

Join our ITACS Social Engineering Team and create a 30 second Public Service Announcement on romance scams. Click here to see some sample Public Service Announcements.
Description: According to the Federal Trade Commission, in the “past five years, people have reported losing a staggering $1.3 billion to romance scams… 2021 was no exception –reported losses hit a record $547 million for the year”. Social engineering plays an important role across the entire romance scams process, from creating a fake profile and initiating contact to grooming and depleting victims of their finances, emotions, and trust.
Temple University’s Cybersecurity in Application, Research & Education (CARE) Lab is challenging students to gain first-hand cyberattack and cybersecurity experience by participating in a creative and unique social engineering event! The CARE Lab has been brought in to help with the skyrocketing numbers of romance scams hitting Americans. Our ITACS team will serve as a CARE Lab representative and engage with both victims and scammers as you work through real-time simulated romance scams.

SCHEDULE: Orientation date: Saturday, May 13 (virtual). The competitions will be held virtually on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 9am to 4pm (ET) May 19, 20, and 21. Closing ceremonies will take place on Wednesday, June 14, 3pm-4pm ET (virtual).
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Code of conduct waiver (agree not to cheat)
- Media consent waiver (generated audio/visual content can be shared publicly)
- Pre-and post-event survey

ISACA Academic Scholarship Competition
COMPETITION OVERVIEW: Participants are to select one of the three topics provided and write an essay in response to the corresponding essay prompt.
TOPICS:
- Business Impact and Risk of Digital Business Transformation.
- Is moving to the cloud always the right choice for a company? What are the considerations in making this decision?
- Impact of Security and Technology on geopolitical environment.
- Scholarships will be awarded to the top three submissions as decided by the Philadelphia ISACA Chapter Grants & Scholarships Committee.
All submissions are DUE February 26, 2023
All decisions are final.
This scholarship is a one-time award.
All scholarship award winners will have their essay published on the Philadelphia ISACA website.
