As technology continues to transform how organizations operate, the demand for professionals who can bridge the gap between business, governance, and cybersecurity has never been greater. Yet, the expectations, challenges, and frameworks that shape IT auditing in the private sector differ sharply from those in the public sector, where accountability, transparency, and compliance are paramount. In this session, Marylyn will be sharing her personal journey transitioning as a corporate IT Auditor to Auditing within the public sector. She will be discussing how her education in IT Auditing and Cybersecurity provided a foundation to adapt across both sectors, applying standards such as the Yellow Book, Green Book, and ISACA frameworks in real-world audit environments. Through this presentation, students will gain an understanding of how IT auditing and cybersecurity align with governance and public trust, and how they can position themselves for success across industries that demand both technical excellence and ethical leadership.
