US NewsThe nationally recognized ITACS program is offered by the Department of Management Information Systems. The goals for graduates of the ITACS program include:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the IT audit process and apply it to business situations
  • Describe how an IT organization should be governed and managed
  • Explain how IT systems are implemented and recommend appropriate controls
  • Describe how IT services are delivered and maintained and recommend appropriate controls
  • Demonstrate how to test information security controls and protect an organization’s information.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct research related to emerging IT issues

Key milestones

  • 2011 – ITACS Master of Science program started by Professor Richard Flanagan who serves as Program Director 2012-2016
  • 2011 – ITACS Industry Advisory Council formed
  • 2012 – First ITACS students admitted and instruction begins in Fall semester
  • 2012 – ITACS accepted as aligned program by ISACA
  • 2013 – First class of students graduate with Master of Science in Information Technology Audit and Cyber Security degrees
  • 2014 – 100% of ITACS graduates placed in program related jobs
  • 2014 – Students enrolled in new Cyber Security Track
  • 2015 – ITACS students achieve CISA (Certified Information System Auditor) exam scores in top 10% of those taking exam
  • 2015 – ITACS student team makes it the finals of the National Cyber Analyst Challenge
  • 2016 – ITACS student team wins gold award during qualification round and again makes it the finals of the National Cyber Analyst Challenge
  • 2016 – Professor David Lanter an ITACS graduate, geographer and software design engineer with 30 years experience joins Temple University and serves as Program Director
  • 2016 – Kapish Vanvaria of EY appointed Chair of ITACS Industry Advisory Council
