Opportunity Knocks: Strengthen Your Personal Brand

The event began with a webinar featuring three employers who emphasized the importance of building a strong personal brand, especially through maintaining a professional and active online presence. They highlighted how platforms like LinkedIn can significantly influence how potential employers perceive you and stressed the value of showcasing relevant skills and experiences.
After the webinar, we joined a Zoom call where we were placed into breakout rooms with company representatives. This allowed for more personal interaction, where we shared our takeaways and asked questions.
As an MIS major, I found this experience especially valuable. In the tech-driven business world, having a strong online presence is essential—not just for networking, but for demonstrating technical skills, projects, and certifications. This event reinforced the importance of presenting myself as a capable and forward-thinking candidate, which aligns with my career goal of working in IT consulting or systems analysis. The advice shared gave me a clearer idea of how to market myself effectively in a competitive field.
