Part Time Internship: Lenfest North Philadelphia Workforce Initiative – Spring 2019
The LNPWI is a Temple University program that is geared toward making a variety of Temple Programs more accessible and known for the North Philadelphia community. These programs are not restricted to but are mostly targeted toward serving marginalized members of the community. Some of the programs include, free tex prep, computer literacy courses, job readiness workshops and a variety of other helpful programs that create opportunities for members of the community.
Roles and Responsibilities:
My position at LNPWI has allows me to work on many different projects at a time and therefore develop a variety of skills. Some of the different projects I have the privilege of working on are listed below.
LNPWI Database:
The LNPWI database project is the primary project I am working on during this internship. Shirley Moy, executive director of LNPWI has given me the opportunity to lead this project. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of four meet the requirements of the project
- Collect and input data.
- Format and clean data.
- Create and maintain an access database.
LNPWI Newsletter:
The LNPWI newsletter is designed to inform the community on what is going on within LNPWI and to promote a variety of programs that Temple and community partners offer. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Researching programs suitable for the newsletter.
- Develop content for the newsletter.
LNPWI Website:
LNPWI has a website but it is not up to the standard of Director Moy. Some changes such as formatting and adding content to existing pages.
- Use WordPress to add content and format website.
- Communicate with Director Moy to ensure the website reflects the programs needs.
